The Process
From first upload to IRS acceptance.
Six steps, all online. You'll know exactly where your return stands at every stage.
- 1
Start your intake form
Create an account and work through the six-step File Now form at your own pace. Your progress saves automatically, so you can stop and come back whenever you need to.
- 2
Upload your documents
Photo ID, Social Security cards, income forms, and anything else your situation calls for — all uploaded through an encrypted connection.
- 3
We review and prepare
Your return is prepared by hand. If something is missing or unclear, your status changes to 'More Information Needed' and we tell you exactly what we need.
- 4
You review and sign
We send the completed return for your review. When you're satisfied, you sign electronically from your portal.
- 5
We e-file with the IRS
Your return is transmitted and your portal updates to 'Complete – Submitted to IRS'.
- 6
Acceptance and confirmation
When the IRS accepts the return, you get a confirmation and a copy for your records. Then you can track your refund.
How long does it take?
Most complete returns are prepared within three to five business days of receiving everything we need. Missing documents are the single biggest cause of delay, which is why the Document Checklist is worth ten minutes before you start.
